Sociology of literature corresponds to the effort to analyze social situations with the accumulation of literature and to reach a sociological analysis of literature as a theme. It examines the direct effect of literature on society and society on literature. In addition to these, it also includes theories that aim not only to reveal but also to clarify the relationship between fictional texts and the ordinary experiences of these and ordinary readers.Novels, which have an important place among literary texts, are living source works that we can refer to in order to obtain valid information about important sociological areas such as social institutions, social change, social mobility, social class and groups, and individuals. Orhan Pamuk, who is considered one of the important writers of both Turkish literature and World literature, is one of the names that left their mark on the post-1980 period of Turkish novel. Pamuk has pursued the new and the different throughout his novel writing adventure. He has also closely followed the current agenda and included these details in his novels. The author has included Istanbul with its districts, neighborhoods, streets and avenues, houses, hotels, entertainment venues, cinemas, restaurants, coffeehouses, patisseries and mosques in the main theme of many of his novels. In this study, one of Orhan Pamuk's novels centered in Istanbul, The Museum of Innocence (2008), has been examined through the sociology of literature. The background of the social elements in this novel has been tried to be illuminated with the methodology of sociology of literature. A multi-faceted examination has been presented by considering the materials used by the author while creating his novel and the sources it draws from in this context.
